First pizza in Honduras. And better than most pizza in the US!

Today Emily, Corrine, Sara and Nina and I ventured to Santa Rosa for the day. Nina has been telling us about the real grocery store in Santa Rosa... and we finally decided it was time to go there. The bus ride is only an hour, so it is an easy day trip. We arrived safely, and made our first stop at a coffee stop for Chai lattes. YUM. We don't have any real coffee shops in Gracias... so this was very exciting. We walked up the main rode to the Central park. The town's Ferria was going on. This is a festival that lasts for about a month. Vendors set up shop and there is a parade. The hike up to the top of the hill was even steeper and longer than the one in Gracias. We found it way too embarrassing to shop while covered in sweat, so we ended up sitting in the church to rest. A large part of the Honduran culture is based on Catholicism. As we sat in the back of the church, many people came in and out for there own few minutes of worship.

We ventured to another coffee shop... we love coffee... and ended up ordering liquados. A liquado is made of fruit and water or milk. Similar to smoothie, but without the yogurt and a slightly different texture because there is less ice. They were the biggest by far and the most delicious!!!

We walked around the town a bit more and then set out for a pizza place that was recommended by one of the other teachers. Santa Rosa is a very common place for Minerva teachers to venture to because it is close, a bit more modern, has great nightlife, and is beautiful. The smell of Weekend's pizza place made the trip worthwhile! And the pizza lived up to all our expectations. Nothing like a familiar meal of pizza in a foreign country :)
